Mason Greenwood is at Getafe on loan but it remains to be seen where the Manchester United loanee will be playing his football next season.

It is unlikely that Greenwood will get another chance at Old Trafford, but an update from Fabrizio Romano tells us that no decision will be made until United hire a new sporting director.

This follows on from a Spanish report that suggested United had already decided to sell Greenwood in the summer.

Dan Ashworth has been identified as the No. 1 target but United have yet to reach an agreement with Newcastle, and he’s likely to face a lengthily spell placed on gardening leave.

Speaking to Caught Offside, the transfer news expect explained that Greenwood’s decision would be decided once a new sporting director is put in place.

Romano said: “There have been reports of Manchester United setting a £34m asking price for Mason Greenwood, but they don’t have a direction yet, so they are focused on building a structure and then we will see their decision on Greenwood and other transfer deals.”

The best we can hope for is Greenwood finishing the season strongly at Getafe because that will create more interest around his signature. It may be a matter of selling to the highest bidder.
