Manchester United consider relocating training complex after 24 years

Manchester United have trained at Carrington since 2000, but INEOS are planning major enhancements and it might be time to move to new premises.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the Reds are open to relocating from their Carrington training complex due to the logistical issues of expanding the site.

United considered buying farming land in the area but that could lead to issues when trying to build football pitches on soil used for food production. They are not interested in expanding onto any of the pitches currently at Carrington because they’re intention is to prioritise the football.

If United decide to move on from Carrington, they will be leaving what has been the club’s training HQ for 24 years.

The report also claims that senior club figures were blown away by Leicester City’s Seagrave training complex that opened in 2021. Its designer, Mags Mernagh, has since been appointed director of infrastructure at United.

Carrington has not seen many improvements since the Glazers bought the club 18 years ago. Thankfully it sounds like one of the many issues INEOS want to fix.
