Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has suggested that Romelu Lukaku is the strongest footballer in the world.
In the post-Ferguson years, United have had a number of underwhelming strikers and little to match the greatness of forwards like Eric Cantona and Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Now, in 2024, we are hoping that Rasmus Hojlund can become the next great United striker but he is still very young.
Perhaps too young for a club of United’s size to be reliant on him.
Romelu Lukaku was one of the underwhelming ones after spending two years at Old Trafford following a £75m transfer from Everton. The Belgium international managed to score 42 foals and provided 13 assists in 96 appearances.
McTominay, who was Lukaku’s teammate for a brief spell, sat down with Goal for an exclusive interview in which he had to build the perfect footballer by naming one player for each category. The left foot went to Lionel Messi, while Cristiano Ronaldo took the right foot.
PSG star Kylian Mbappe was picked for his speed and Neymar got the nod for trickery, while Andrea Pirlo was the name picked for pure footballing IQ. When it came to strength there was only one winner as far as McTominay was concerned.

There is no denying that – when in full flow – Lukaku is an extremely difficult striker to stop.
The Belgian is currently playing for AS Roma, who sacked Jose Mourinho earlier this week.
Lukaku has eight Serie A goals this season.
