Manchester United expecting winger’s departure after opening talks with Spanish club

Manchester United are reportedly expecting Facundo Pellistri to depart on loan this month, as per Manchester Evening News.

It comes after Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the player had given the ‘green light’ to a move to Granada after rebuffing interest from PSV Eindhoven and LA Galaxy in favour of joining the La Liga outfit.

Now, sources at United believe Pellistri’s prospective move to Granada is ‘likely’. He is set to follow Donny van de Beek, Jadon Sancho, Hannibal Mejbri, Alvaro Fernandez and Joe Hugill out the door of temporary exits this January.

Pellistri’s 23/24 season so far

So far this term, the Uruguayan has made 14 appearances across all competitions, totalling 366 minutes on the pitch. Just three of these outings have come as a starter and he has made just four starts in total since being promoted to the senior squad.

Pellistri, 22, is yet to register his maiden goal for United and has already completed two loan spells at Alaves since signing on a £9 million deal from Penarol in 2020.

Samuel Luckhurst’s report adds: “The choice of moving to another La Liga side effectively signals United’s willingness to cash in on Pellistri, whose contract expires next year. United have the option of an additional year.”
