Manchester United have reportedly approached Barcelona over the prospect of striking up a deal for Ronald Araujo.

The Uruguayan is being heavily targeted by Bayern Munich as well as the Reds, with both sides mulling over a potential pursuit.

Araujo, 24, has spent almost six years in Catalonia, progressing from a brief year-long spell in the reserves to now playing a crucial role at the heart of Barcelona’s defence. He endured an injury-plagued campaign last season but rounded off the term by lifting his first-ever La Liga title, as well as the Supercopa de Espana.

He ranks third in Xavi’s captaincy rankings, behind experienced captain Sergi Roberto and vice Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and has already donned the armband on five occasions in 2023/2024.
