Marcus Rashford scored his first goal at Old Trafford since May 2023 when coming up with the goods against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Unfortunately for Manchester United, they again weren’t able to see out the job and take all three points from a fellow top-four rival.
The Reds took the lead twice but saw Ange Postecoglou’s side equalise in both the first and the second half, leaving the teams with a point apiece when the full-time whistle blew in M16.
It marked Rashford’s fourth goal of the campaign thus far – a significant drop-off to last season when he finished the term with 30 to his name in all competitions. This time around, all four have come in the Premier League, and he had to wait eight months before he was able to celebrate on home turf.
Like most players in United’s frontline, the England international has found himself on the receiving end of heavy criticism in recent months. Whether it be a lack of contributions, squandered chances or body language on the pitch, Rashford has come under scrutiny by both pundits and supporters alike.
He seemingly sent a message to his critics in his goal celebration though, by motioning a person talking with his hand.

Pundits react to Rashford goal
Speaking on the Sky Sports panel post-match, Roy Keane reacted to Rashford’s gesture and finish, saying: “We need to see more of this because he’s got the quality. Why he seems to be upset with everybody… he’s got to go out and enjoy it, he’s playing for Man United.”
Jamie Redknapp weighed in: “He’s got no right to be upset, he’s not done the business. That’s not good enough [first goal at home since May]. With his talent and what he can do to people, he can twist them up, that’s what he should be doing. So don’t complain.”
