United ‘offered’ Bayern attacker after Postecoglou pips Ten Hag to Bundesliga striker

Manchester United have reportedly been ‘offered’ Bayern Munich frontman Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, as per Football Insider.

The Red Devils have entered the January transfer window in the same position they did last year – in desperate need of an additional striker. However, it’s no secret that with little room for manoeuvre around Financial Fair Play regulations, scouring the loan market is how Erik ten Hag must find his man.

Last winter saw Wout Weghorst arrive on a temporary deal from Burnley and while he was praised for his work-rate at various points, he departed Old Trafford without scoring a single Premier League goal and found the back of the net just twice in all competitions across 31 appearances.

United were believed to be targeting former Chelsea forward Timo Werner over the past week and even made an inquiry to RB Leipzig, but Tottenham Hotspur were quicker to ignite their pursuit and agreed a loan over the weekend, which won’t come as a huge disappointment to the Old Trafford faithful.

Now, links have become increasingly stronger with Choupo-Moting, who ranks well behind the likes of Harry Kane and Bayern’s prolific attackers under Thomas Tuchel. He has been limited to just three Bundesliga starts this term and returned two goals, so you’d be forgiven for questioning how he’d bolster or aid Ten Hag’s strike force in any way.
