Gary Neville unimpressed by timing of imminent Sir Jim Ratcliffe announcement

Gary Neville has hit out at Manchester United’s decision to announce Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s investment into the club on Christmas Eve.

The former club captain states that it has been a rubbish end to the year for United, but to end it after 13 months of speculation over the takeover just tells you what the Glazers have put the fans through.

Neville wasn’t impressed by the timing of the news either.

“Manchester United 2023 has been a disgrace to the end,” Neville posted on X, formerly Twitter. “The timing of this is truly awful and no functioning organisation would even think about it.

“Anyway all the very best to Jim Radcliffe [sic] and I hope he can somehow work out a way to get the club right again and back to being something respectable on and off the pitch.”

The news comes just a day after United’s 13th defeat of the season – away at West Ham.

It has been 13 months since their strategic review, which essentially paved way for a minority investment, which will see the Glazers remain at Old Trafford. And that is not something any United fan wants.

Although Sir Jim Ratcliffe is believed to have pushed for the former option after lengthy negotiations with the Glazers, settled on a minority share.

Ratcliffe and his Ineos team will now oversee footballing operations at the club.

However, the announcement is imminent and has not been made yet.

All reports suggest it will be soon.
