Report: United bow out of Europe in humiliating fashion while setting unwanted Champions League records

Manchester United are out of the Champions League – and Europe altogether – after finishing rock-bottom of Group A.

A third-placed finish would’ve seen the Red Devils drop down to the Europa League knockouts, but tonight’s 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich cemented United in last place.

The Old Trafford faithful made let their feelings be known when the full-time whistle blew, with deafening boos ringing around the stadium as United were humiliated on the European stage once again by claiming a mere four points from the six matches played.

United registered just one shot on target this evening in a must-win outing on home turf but were seemingly in damage control and wanted to avoid a humiliating scoreline against the ever-dangerous German giants, so played cautiously and reserved across the night.

Just one goal was enough for the already-qualified Bundesliga outfit, who didn’t even need to get out of second gear to ensure they took all three points, and the single contribution etched United’s name into Champions League history – not in the way they’d have hoped, though; Erik ten Hag’s squad became the first-ever English team to concede a total of 15 goals in the group stage. Yikes.

It’s also the lowest tally United have returned in the competition at this stage, as well as the first time they’ve lost four out of the six matches.

  1. 5 shots: one on target. They didn’t really want this, did they? Why do I keep thinking I’m going to see a storming, do-or-die effort? What’s WRONG with me???!
