Mainoo starts, no Rashford and CB returns: Predicted Manchester United line-up vs Bournemouth

Our predicted Manchester United line-up for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth at 3pm.

The Red Devils will be looking to make it five wins from their past six league games tomorrow afternoon and they’ll have the Old Trafford faithful rallied behind them from the first blow of the whistle.

Erik ten Hag, as has been the case since the season began, is navigating numerous injury woes across his squad. Recent additions to the list of sidelined players include Victor Lindelof, who is ruled out of the game entirely, and Marcus Rashford; he missed training on Friday through illness and is currently a ‘doubt’ to face the Cherries.

On a more positive note, Raphael Varane returns after a sore back kept him out of the midweek win over Chelsea, and Amad Diallo has trained with the first-team as he gets closer to making his first outing of the 2023/24 campaign. Tomorrow’s match may come a little too soon for the 21-year-old, though.

Predicted starting XI

Onana

Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, Varane, Shaw

Self-explanatory. A lot of fans would like to see Varane start but with Jonny Evans fit again, who knows how the backline will shape up.

McTominay, Mainoo

Sofyan Amrabat replaced Mainoo midweek and put in a spirited shift across the night, however, the teenager has been exceptional in all of his three outings thus far and could be preferred tomorrow rather than Tuesday, when United take on Bayern Munich in their final group-stage contest – a game that could suit Amrabat’s experience a little more.

Antony, Fernandes (C)*, Garnacho

Rashford’s showing at St. James’ Park led to him being dropped to the bench and Alejandro Garnacho did a stellar job in his absence – providing a crucial assist for Scott McTominay’s winning goal – so would likely retain his place even if the Englishman was deemed fit to feature.

Hojlund

Each Premier League outing without his maiden goal is only adding pressure to the forward’s shoulders, but fans must remain patient with Rasmus Hojlund as he’s already proven what he can do on the biggest stage – in the Champions League. It’ll come.

*A booking for Bruno Fernandes would see him suspended for the trip to Anfield on December 17.

  1. The predicted line up is good but i suggest Pellistry should be given some minutes. He is such a huge talent that United should not frustrate out due to lack of game time.
