FC Porto president announces that Manchester United target will leave in 2024

FC Porto’s president Pinto da Costa has suggested Manchester United-linked striker Mehdi Taremi will leave the club in 2024.

Taremi will be out of contract at the end of the season and it sounds like Porto have accepted that they will lose him because the player has been offered a salary elsewhere which could not be matched by the Portuguese giants.

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Taremi to help solve United’s goalscoring problems. The Red Devils have been reliant on 20-year-old striker Rasmus Hojlund and it is clear that Erik ten Hag needs more options in attack.

The only backup option we’ve got is Anthony Martial and nobody is convinced he can turn around his United career.

Pinto da Costa, who works as Porto’s president, provided an update on Taremi and appeared to announce that he’d be leaving the club in the new year.

Costa explained, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News: “He has received €10m (£8.7m) per year salary offers from other clubs… it’s impossible to match that.”

We’ll keep an eye on Taremi reports, although it’s important to note that United are not the only club linked with the Porto striker.
