Manchester United still need to sign more goalscorers. They’ve left it to a 20-year-old to lead the line this season, and while we’ve all been impressed by Rasmus Hojlund, it is clear that the workload is too much for young shoulders.
There’s also been issues in the squad with injuries left, right and centre meaning that reinforcements are needed as soon as possible.
United fans will be hoping that the club sign another forward in January. It is unlikely that they would splash out but even a smart signing (smarter than Wout Weghorst) would be a big help at the moment because we can’t rely on Anthony Martial as our backup striker. The Frenchman doesn’t even believe in himself.
One player United have been linked with is Mehdi Taremi of FC Porto. He has been one of the most prolific scorers in Portugal over the past few seasons and his current deal expires next summer.
Unfortunately for United, there seems to be a number of clubs interested in Taremi, so it might not be a straightforward process to bring him in this winter with Real Madrid also believed to be knocking on the door.
Inter Milan in talks to sign Mehdi Taremi
According to Fichajes, Serie A giants Inter Milan have started negotiations for Taremi but Porto want a transfer fee in the region of €20-25 million to part ways with the striker in January.
It is also noted that the offers presented to Porto thus far have not managed to convince the Portuguese outlet to sell the 31-year-old.
Taremi is entering the final six months of his contract, so Porto run the risk of losing him for free in the summer.
