Manchester United football director John Murtough has been tipped to follow Richard Arnold out the door ahead of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s eagerly awaited arrival at Old Trafford.
Ratcliffe’s minority takeover has yet to be announced, but the Old Trafford cull is gathering pace.
It was revealed this week that Richard Arnold would be stepping down from his role as chief executive.
According to the Daily Star, Murtough is next to get the chop as Ratcliffe plans to bring in his own experts to run the football side of things.
The British billionaire is believed to be on the verge of buying a 25% stake in the club. Then he will review how the club is being run behind the scenes, although he surely has a few plans in place already with key personnel being sent their marching orders.
Ratcliffe will oversee the football side of the business and it sounds like he’s already calling the shots to make sure things are in place before his arrival. It remains to be seen how long that will take, with the Telegraph stating it could take 6-8 weeks for his deal to be approved by the Premier League.
United’s recruitment has been subject to criticism for many years and it comes as no surprise that we are going to see changes in that department.
Paul Mitchell — formerly of AS Monaco, Southampton and Tottenham – has been linked with a role at United.
