Two struggling Manchester United stars featured in behind-closed-doors friendly vs Hull on Tuesday

Antony and Donny van de Beek featured for Manchester United in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Hull City on Tuesday, as per Mike McGrath.

The club will be keen to keep their fitness levels up over the international break, with both players omitted from their respective national teams; Brazil have two World Cup qualifiers lined up, while the Netherlands play out their final Euro 2024 qualifying clashes.

Antony has come under fire for his lacklustre form this season, as the £82 million attacker is yet to register a goal or assist in any competition thus far. He was benched for United’s last two games against Luton Town and Copenhagen, with Erik ten Hag opting to deploy youngster Alejandro Garnacho in his place.

Ten Hag’s forgotten man

As for Van de Beek, you’d be forgiven for forgetting that he’s a registered member of the squad this term. Ten Hag was keen to offload the 26-year-old prior to the campaign kicking off but his exit never materialised. Since then, he has accumulated just 21 minutes of playing time across two appearances; against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup and again in the Premier League.

Even amidst United’s string of injury concerns and absentees, there has still been no room for Van de Beek to return to the fold.
