Christian Eriksen has responded to the comments made by Copenhagen manager, Jacob Neestrup, regarding the atmosphere at Parken Stadium tomorrow.
Manchester United are preparing for their fourth Champions League group-stage clash and it’s another must-win after their two opening defeats. On October 24, they picked up a crucial three points against the Danes.
Now, they’ll be away from their home comforts and the players will need to ensure they’re able to drown out the Copenhagen supporters’ fiery antics in the crowd and get the job done.
Neestrup believes that English viewers will witness a new kind of atmosphere at Parken Stadium on Wednesday, and claims that it will be ‘times 100’ of what Old Trafford was able to produce a fortnight ago.
He said in his pre-match press conference: “With all the respect, I felt when I stepped into Old Trafford the historical atmosphere, but you can’t compare Old Trafford with Parken. Because the intensity is times 100 in terms of what we played in two weeks ago. This is the standard and for me, [it’s] way above [the] Premier League, to be honest.”
Eriksen responds to Neestrup’s claims
However, Christian Eriksen is one Red who’s well aware of how passionate Danish fans are, having been a mainstay and pivotal figure in the national team throughout his career. He’s also used to stepping out at Parken during international breaks, so it’ll be nothing out of the ordinary for the midfielder.
He responded to the manager’s comments this evening, saying (via ManUtd.com): “I have never played against Copenhagen in here. I have only been here with [the] national team and I do know the atmosphere is very special.
“I do expect a special atmosphere but 100 times more theatrical than Old Trafford? I’m not sure about that.”
