Copenhagen team news: Experienced star ruled out of Manchester United Champions League meeting

Manchester United make the trip to Copenhagen this week to take on the Danish outfit in a Champions League group-stage clash.

The reverse fixture was on October 24, with the Red Devils reigning victorious after a 1-0 win – courtesy of Harry Maguire’s header and Andre Onana’s last-gasp penalty save heroics.

This Wednesday, the sides meet again and having tasted defeat twice in their opening two European games, United cannot leave the Parken Stadium with anything less than three points.

Jacob Neestrup will be having to navigate numerous injury woes on the night; Mohamed Elyounoussi, Birger Meling and William Clem are all unavailable for the contest.

Meanwhile, forward Andreas Cornelius was withdrawn at half-time during Copenhagen’s last outing against Randers due to a fitness problem. The manager told Bold.dk: “Corner did not feel comfortable, he did not dare to sprint for the second half, and therefore we replaced him.”

Davit Khocholava has also been ruled out after the club confirmed he had been forced to undergo surgery for an injury setback. They said, via Manchester World: “Khocholava is unable to compete in the coming weeks, as he has to undergo a minor operation on top of an after-reaction in one of his operated knees.”
