(Video) Old Trafford pays touching tribute to Sir Bobby Charlton

The Old Trafford faithful gathered this evening to pay tribute to one of football’s greatest and most influential icons, Sir Bobby Charlton.

It’s the first time Manchester United have played on home turf since the devastating news of Charlton’s passing was confirmed last Saturday.

Supporters have flooded the stadium since the news to sign an open book of condolences and leave flowers, messages, shirts and tributes around the Trinity statue on the forecourt.

Tonight, those attending the Champions League game had the chance to pay their respects along with the team; Alex Stepney, Dan Gore and Erik ten Hag walked out the Stretford End while a moving rendition of ‘We’ll Never Die’ rang out by a piper, and placed a wreath on the centre circle.

Old Trafford then observed a minute’s silence, which ended with the fans bellowing: “There’s only one Bobby Charlton.”
