Alan Brazil should know better.
Some will say he sold his soul to talkSPORT a long time ago, but I’m still flabbergasted that Brazil thinks it’s appropriate to speculate about the manager of Manchester United whilst unintentionally downplaying the source.
Erik ten Hag has come under fire after United’s poor start to the new season, losing six of our opening 11 matches. The Dutchman has not made any excuses, although he earned enough credit in his first season at the club to be given time and it would be unfair to ignore the team’s ongoing injury crisis.
Ten Hag has also faced off-field problems – one including Jadon Sancho that has become a saga – which hardly helps. The winger has shown himself up for being not just childish but unprofessional by refusing to apologise to the manager for speaking out against him on social media.
However, talkSPORT radio host Brazil claims some members of United’s squad are unhappy with Ten Hag’s management and are privately disputing his assessment of Sancho in training.
Brazil said on Wednesday morning (as quoted by The Metro): “Do you know what I was hearing, and you’ve got to be careful what you report on but this is what I’ve heard from a United player who told someone we know very well.
“He said the players are not having the manager. They’re not having him, definitely not.
“By all accounts, they’re disgusted the way that he treated Cristiano and they say Sancho is a great guy who works his socks off.
“He said the players are not having him.”
Although Brazil claims you need to be careful to report what you hear, he completely flip flops by spreading information his mate has heard from a mate.
Perhaps it would have been a good idea for Brazil to try and double, triple or quadruple sourcing the information before sharing it as news on the radio.
After digging a little deeper into Brazil’s comments, he previously said that he was told Sancho had been naughty and added that his behaviour was not something Ten Hag should tolerate.
Speaking on talkSPORT back in September, Brazil said: “Someone was telling me, I can’t verify it, but someone was telling me, an ex-player, that he has been a bit naughty, he turns up late all the time, he is irritating the manager, and the manager has got enough problems at the moment with what’s going on at the club, and the hierarchy have enough problems at the moment.
“He doesn’t need this, Ten Hag.”
It’s just the typical United dribble you get from talkSPORT.
