Qatar wary of pressure tactics surrounding Manchester United takeover bid

The Glazer family announced last November that they were looking for investment. It opened the door for Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani to show they interest in buying Manchester United before both parties offered proposals.

We have long documented how the fans have suffered for the past 18-years under Glazer ownership, but delays over a takeover means those concerns will remain.

The Glazers don’t appear to be budging from their world record valuation of £6bn and, according to The Independent, Joel and Avram Glazer still aren’t ready to sell the club.

Qatar has made an offer of £5bn to take full control of the club, whilst Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s potential minority offer may be a compromise which is being perceived as another pressure tactic to get things moving.

The Qatari delegation believe there’s no intention whatsoever to raise their final bid to buy Manchester United, as per The Times (£).

Ratcliffe’s recent bid allegedly amounts to £1.5bn for 25% of the club, which means the Glazer family would keep majority control of United.

Ultimately, this is just more uncertainty for United fans and we’ve got no idea what direction our football club could move in, but it’s bleak if the Glazers stay.
