Wilfried Zaha gives ruthless response when asked about underwhelming Manchester United spell

Wilfried Zaha returns to Old Trafford again tomorrow, 10 years on from his brief and substandard spell as a Manchester United player.

The winger left Crystal Palace in the summer for Turkish Super Lig outfit Galatasaray, meaning he faces the Red Devils on Tuesday evening in the sides’ Champions League group-stage clash.

Back in January 2013, the then-highly-rated prospect made the switch to United before returning to Selhurst Park on loan for the remainder of the season. In August, he made his debut as a Red in the club’s Community Shield final but did not feature again until late October in a League Cup tie.

Zaha’s end to an unsatisfactory spell

Zaha’s maiden Premier League outing didn’t come until December 7, when David Moyes’ side lost 1-0 to Newcastle United. He made just one further appearance before departing on loan for two seasons. The forward eventually returned to Palace on a permanent deal.

Harsh… or just underwhelming?

When looking back on his career in M16, and whether he was bothered by what happened, he told Simon Stone: “I’ll be honest, when you look at my face do you think I am bothered at all? No.”
