Antony’s ex-girlfriend issues statement after Manchester United return

Antony’s ex-girlfriend Gabriella Cavallin, who has made allegations against the Manchester United star, has issued a fresh statement after the winger returned to first-team squad.

The Brazil international’s ex-girlfriend has accused Antony of committing “physical and psychological violence” against her.

However, Antony has always denied those claims and has gone out of his way to meet with police in Sao Paolo and Manchester for questioning in recent weeks.

United announced on Friday morning that the winger would return to the squad. He was also spotted at Old Trafford with his son ahead of the disappointing 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Cavallin’s lawyers have now issued a statement on her behalf in response to Antony’s return to his club.

The statement reads (via Manchester Evening News): “Gabriela Cavallin’s attorneys inform that the crimes committed by the player are still being investigated by the Manchester Police and also the Brazilian Police, which is why we believe that he will soon be sent to court, where he will have to face a trial.

“It seems obvious to us that fallacies would be created with the intention of the team bringing him back to training.”

Since Antony’s decision to co-operate with the police was voluntary, it sounds like he has nothing to hide. Furthermore the police haven’t charged him.

If Antony is later found guilty of such crimes, United will obviously change their stance on the situation but I don’t think they can do anything else right now.
