Confirmed Manchester United line-up vs Crystal Palace: 7 changes as Varane and Maguire start

Manchester United will begin their defence of the Carabao Cup trophy against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford tonight and Erik ten Hag has named a side that should see us progress into the next round.

Ten Hag is hoping to win the Carabao Cup in back-to-back seasons, but it all starts with a clash against Roy Hodgson’s Eagles and they will be looking to cause an upset at Old Trafford.

The Reds got back to winning ways at the weekend, beating Burnley 1-0, thanks to a superb goal from Bruno Fernandes.

However, following the win over Burnley, Ten Hag has decided to make seven changes to his team.

Andre Onana gets the nod between the sticks because his confidence will only grow by playing games.

The back four looks a bit difference due to the absence of left-back Sergio Reguilon. Ten Hag appears to be playing Sofyan Amrabat in the role, unless he opts to set up with a back three. Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane also feature in defence.

Hannibal Mejbri has been rewarded for his performances of late by being handed a consecutive start in midfield. The Tunisia international is joined by Casemiro and Mason Mount returns from injury.

In attack, all three will be looking to prove their worth to the squad. Facundo Pellistri on the right, Anthony Martial through the middle and Alejandro Garnacho on the left.

Manchester United XI vs Crystal Palace: Onana; Dalot, Maguire, Varane, Amrabat; Casemiro, Mount, Hannibal; Pellistri, Martial, Garnacho.

Ten Hag will be able to call upon Bruno Fernandes or Marcus Rashford if we need goals in the latter stages of tonight’s match.
