(Video) Ten Hag previews Bayern clash and identifies one weakness in Thomas Tuchel’s side

Erik ten Hag is preparing his squad for their biggest test of the season so far – a Champions League group-stage tie against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

The Bundesliga giants lifted their last European trophy in 2020, adding a sixth title to their lucrative collection.

Bayern, in recent times, have never really gone through a dry spell in terms of success. They currently boast an 11-year streak of winning the league and have won the treble on two separate occasions, in the 2012/2013 campaign and the 2019/2020 season.

United are, however, English royalty. The 20-time champions have taken a dip post-Sir Alex Ferguson but there was an era in which they were the most feared team in England and one of the most successful across Europe, so they have to have that belief heading into the game.

Ten Hag on Bayern

Ten Hag previewed the highly-anticipated fixture in today’s press conference, saying: “I think they have very attractive players, very skilful. You can’t be unfocused for one second, one split second because of all of the individual class they have.

“But as you say, they also do sometimes leave spaces, but we have respect for them. We know Bayern in the Champions League, at home, especially in the group stages are very strong. We are really looking forward because we like a challenge and also we trust ourselves.”
