Peter Schmeichel slams Manchester United after 3-1 defeat against Brighton

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel didn’t hold back with his criticism of the Reds after Saturday’s 3-1 defeat against Brighton.

Danny Welbeck came back to haunt United with Brighton’s opening goal before two more were added by Pascal Gross and Joao Pedro.

United only managed to pull back one goal when substitute Hannibal Mejbri scored his first goal for the club in the second half to make it 3-1.

The result leaves United sitting in 12th place with only six points from a possible 15.

Speaking to Premier League Productions for coverage of the game, Schmeichel hit out at United in his assessment.

He said (via Manchester Evening News): “Really slowly they’ve gone back into what we’ve seen this season; too many passes, too many slow passes, not enough running.

“[There’s] not enough taking chances, gambling, getting into the box. Absolutely no pressure on the ball.”
