Gabby George has confirmed his deadline day transfer to Manchester United after 10 years with Everton for an undisclosed fee.
The England international joined the Blues from Manchester United’s Centre of Excellence ahead of the 2014 FA WSL season and she made her debut against Notts County.
Now, with a wealth of experience to her name, Gabby George joins the biggest football club in England.
George became Everton Women’s first-ever player to sign a professional contract in 2017 after leaving United’s academy and would go on to make 101 top-flight appearances for the Toffees.
Speaking about her move to United, George told club media: “It’s been a surreal day. As a massive Manchester United fan, I’m buzzing to be here. It’s the club I’ve supported since I was born, and I’m delighted to come back. This club means a lot to me and my family, and it’s where we want to be.”
The 26-year-old, who has two international caps to her name, spent the end of last season injured and that would have ruled her out of contention for the England squad that travelled to the World Cup.
Head of women’s football Polly Bancroft added: “Gabby joins United with established WSL pedigree, and we are delighted she has chosen to return to us, having graduated from our Centre of Excellence in 2014. Our fans can expect to see an exciting and dynamic player in our famous red shirt.”
Marc Skinner already welcomed one new signing to the club today, with World Cup-winner Irene Guerrero joining from Atletico Madrid.
The Reds also hope to sign OL Reign goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.
