Besiktas confirm signing of Eric Bailly from Manchester United in permanent deal

Eric Bailly has signed for Besiktas on a short-term, permanent deal from Manchester United.

The agreement was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano this evening, with the Red Devils happy to sanction the defender’s exit.

It then didn’t take long before Besiktas announced the transfer in a Twitter post late on Monday night.

Bailly, 29, leaves Old Trafford having made 113 appearances for the club across his seven years as a Red. He also won the League Cup, FA Cup and Europa League.

Bailly had no place in pecking order

Erik ten Hag had made it clear that the Ivorian was not part of his plans in this new-look United side, and sent him on a season-long loan to Marseille last term. The situation remained the same this season, with Bailly omitted from the side’s opening four Premier League fixtures, and he has now left permanently.

It comes after a summer of ruthless clearouts, with David de Gea, Dean Henderson, Alex Telles and Phil Jones among a lengthy list of players that were sent on their way.
