Match preview: United travel to the Emirates with injury woes and redemption on their mind

Manchester United take on Arsenal this Sunday, September 3 at the Emirates in a 4.30 pm kick-off.

The Red Devils’ season has not started in the way that Erik ten Hag would’ve hoped to begin his second campaign; a substandard showing against a relentless Wolverhampton Wanderers side opened the term at Old Trafford, with United lucky to scrape a 1-0 victory on the night.

That win was then followed by their first defeat – 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspur, putting an end to United’s unbeaten streak at their new stadium.

Last Saturday, the Reds conceded two early goals to Nottingham Forest before completing a stunning comeback to rescue all three points and win 3-2.

Now, it’s another top-six rival away from home, and that’s an element that United have notoriously struggled with.

United vs. Arsenal: A blockbuster clash

The last trip to the Emirates was nothing short of drama-filled; a tightly-contested clash between the two rivals was decided with an injury-time winner from Eddie Nketiah, sending North London into bedlam and the Reds collapsing in despair. They deserved to leave with something, but fell at the final hurdle.

Mikel Arteta will have his men poised to do the same again, but United will have redemption on their minds after their disappointment in January. It also provides a chance to make a statement after an awry beginning.

As for the Gunners, they’re looking to build on an encouraging year in which they led the Premier League table until the final matchdays when they were ultimately overtaken by Manchester City.

They’re unbeaten so far, with two wins and a draw to their name.
