Manchester United are yet to make a formal approach for Sofyan Amrabat despite being linked with him for several weeks.
The 27-year-old has been patiently waiting for the Red Devils to produce the funds and reach an agreement with his club, so much so that he has been omitted from Fiorentina’s squad and training until his situation is resolved.
However, after forking out £55 million for Mason Mount, £47.2m for Andre Onana and £64m for Rasmus Hojlund (all excluding add-ons), Erik ten Hag is now relying on funds from outgoings to try and sanction any further arrivals this summer.
The club are set to receive £15m from Dean Henderson’s imminent move to Crystal Palace, which could quickly be put to good use if they’re efficient, and West Ham United have also reportedly re-opened talks over Harry Maguire.
Speaking in his Daily Briefing, Fabrizio Romano suggested that Fiorentina are awaiting contact from United before deadline day. He said: “As I have already told you, Sofyan Amrabat is waiting for Man United and will do his best to make the move happen before the transfer window shuts. United have yet to make a formal bid for the player and that needs to happen for the deal to progress – Fiorentina are expecting them to make a move soon.”
Ten Hag keen on midfield addition
United’s opening three fixtures have sparked concern among supporters regarding their lack of depth in the middle of the park, especially with Mount now sidelined for the foreseeable weeks, so Amrabat would certainly provide some needed quality and creativity to bolster Ten Hag’s squad.
