West Ham re-open talks for Manchester United outcast Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire’s potential switch to West Ham could be back on.

According to The Sun’s Alan Nixon, the Hammers have reopened talks with Manchester United over signing the centre-back.

It is suggested that West Ham are trying to find a way to help United pay off Maguire, who is bound to earn a smaller salary at his next club – whenever he leaves Old Trafford.

West Ham already had an agreement with United for a deal worth £30 million, but the report states Maguire is demanding a hefty pay-off. It has been suggested that the East London side offered the England international a four-year deal on £120,000-per-week. That’s a £70k cut from what he pockets at United every week.

The problem for United is they need sales to finance other signings and Erik ten Hag needs more additions before Friday’s deadline.

Maguire started just eight Premier League games last season and, to make matters worse for him, the 30-year-old has not featured in any of our opening three games of the 2023/24 season. That why it should be one of the club’s priorities to get him off wage books this week.

In Saturday’s 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest, Ten Hag opted to bring on Victor Lindelof to replace Raphael Varane at half-time, so it was a matter of Maguire being overlooked once again.

The former United skipper surely knows that he won’t get sufficient game time if he remains at Old Trafford. Not unless we sustain a flurry of injuries in defence.

  1. No, if he is no good at Manchester Utd, low in confidence, slow and mistake ridden. How will he suddenly become the best centre half in England?

  2. Why do we keep trying to sign a player who does not want to play for us and want’s a club that is bigger.I think he would upset a very good team we are forming.People who want to play for us.It is looking very good at the moment.Let Maguire find this big club he is trying to find(does not look like anybody is looking)
Please West Ham do not sign him I beg you.Let him rot on Man United’s sub’s bench

  3. IMO Maguire shd be allowed to ROT with U19 Tean if he won’t go Quietly. Messing Up his International career for GREED. Every Player would go through this Diminished Performance in their Carreer & it’s Down to each player to Manage it. U cannot produce a Conference League Output and command a Superster Salary. But to Demand Pay Off from a Club that made you a Star in this Situation shows He knows he’s SHITE !
