Ipswich Town sign Manchester United defender on loan

Manchester United full-back Brandon Williams will spend the 2023/24 season on loan at Ipswich Town.

The 22-year-old will link up with former United coach Kieran McKenna at the Championship side.

I think it’s only right that McKenna gets a lend in hand from his former club by receiving a decent player on loan. It’s the least he deserves after leading Ipswich to automatic promotion from League One last season.

Ipswich have also started the season brilliantly with three wins from three, and sit at the top of the Championship so they will have high expectations this season.

For Williams, the main aim should be to go somewhere he will play every week and that should be achievable at Portman Road.

“Kieran was my youth-team coach at United and, from there, we have had a great relationship,” Williams told Ipswich’s official website. “He has always had the standards of a coach at the top level and has had a big influence on me.

“He has always kept in touch with me to make sure I’m okay and I trust everything he says because he is great to learn off. I’m excited to work with him again.”

The left-back wasn’t going to get game time at United because he’s already behind Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia in the pecking order.

We would like to wish Williams the best of luck for the upcoming season.
