Brandon Williams is reportedly set to join Ipswich Town on a season-long loan, as per Pete O’Rourke and TeamTalk

Should a deal be finalised, it would see Williams reunite with former Manchester United coach Kieran McKenna, who has managed the East Anglian outfit since 2021.

McKenna led Ipswich to automatic promotion from League One last term after overseeing a 19-game unbeaten streak, and the side now sit atop the Championship table with a perfect record after three games.

Game time crucial for Williams

As for Williams, a loan move will certainly be in his best interests if he wants consistent game time at this stage in his career. The 22-year-old featured for the Red Devils in their pre-season fixtures but is unlikely to make many appearances in the senior squad across the campaign, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia ranking higher in the pecking order.

The Carrington graduate made just one five-minute cameo for United last term in a Carabao Cup tie at Old Trafford, which earned him a medal when the club went on to lift the trophy at Wembley in February.

A long-term injury kept him sidelined for the majority of the 2022/2023 season, so he’ll be keen to showcase his talents now that he’s back to full fitness.
