Fabrizio Romano claims Manchester United have identified another summer target

It’s been a highly turbulent transfer window for Manchester United and the Reds are not done with their business yet, with Erik ten Hag keen on adding another goalkeeper to the ranks.

Andre Onana joined the club earlier this summer as David de Gea’s replacement and the Cameroon international has received a warm welcome, with supporters excited to watch a ball-playing goalkeeper guard the net.

Despite his arrival, United remain light in that area, with Nathan Bishop also leaving the club this summer. Tom Heaton recently sustained an injury and was reportedly among the players Luton Town were considering.

Dean Henderson has been on the fringes at United for a number of years and the England international is looking for a move away from the club, with Crystal Palace becoming the latest side to explore a move.

Henderson is likely to leave the club in some capacity before the window closes in less than two weeks and in the event of his departure, Ten Hag will be desperate to sign a replacement.

Now, journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has provided another update, revealing that Benfica goalkeeper Odisseas Vlachodimos sits at the top of Ten Hag’s wishlist to become Onana’s backup.

Vlachodimos, 29, extended his contract at Benfica earlier this year but as per the report, he is still likely to leave the Portuguese giants.

The German shot-stopper started Benfica’s first league game of the season but was subsequently dropped for the next game and is now set to leave.

Goalkeepers are not the only profile United are missing with two weeks of the window remaining. The first two games of the season have exposed United’s need for fresh blood in midfield and it remains to be seen if funds are freed up for moves in that area.

Scott McTominay is the subject of interest from West Ham but no concrete offer has been made. Donny van de Beek is in talks to leave the club and Fred has already joined Fenerbahce.

Sofyan Amrabat has been heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford and earlier on Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain hero Marco Verratti became the latest player to be paired with a move to United.
