Manchester United linked with Paris Saint-Germain outcast

Manchester United’s midfield issues have been exposed in the first two games of this season, with Wolves and Tottenham Hotspur playing through United’s middle third with ease.

United escaped an embarrassing first outing against Wolves as Raphael Varane scored a late winner but a second-half show from Spurs earlier this weekend was enough to set the Reds off to an awkward start.

United have already signed one midfielder, Mason Mount, but that has done little to address the balance issues in the middle of the park and Sofyan Amrabant, the Fiorentina star, has been one of the players linked with a move.

Now, Paris Saint-Germain and Italy star Marco Verratti has become the latest player linked with a move to Old Trafford amid the ongoing issues.

That’s according to French outlet L’Equipe, via GFFN, who say that Verratti is garnering interest from United and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

It’s claimed that Verratti is free to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer following Luis Enrique’s takeover of the club, with several big names shown the door.

As per the report, Verratti has already struck an agreement with a club in Saudi Arabia but a club-to-club agreement is missing, which means that veteran midfielder is still up for grabs.

At 30, Verratti is still very much in his prime and that is reflected by PSG’s asking price, with the Parisians looking to get €60m out of a potential sale.
