Erik ten Hag made it clear as day to Eric Bailly that the defender is not part of his plans for the forthcoming season.

Manchester United released their provisional squad numbers list yesterday ahead of their opening fixture and Bailly was not included  – despite still being a registered member of the team.

If there’s one way for the club to make it clear that they’re pushing for your exit, that’s certainly it.

The Ivorian has been long linked with an exit from Old Trafford after numerous substandard and injury-plagued seasons. He spent the last term on loan with Marseille but his performances did not warrant the French outfit making his stay permanent.

He has since returned to Carrington to train with his teammates while the board actively seek a new destination for the centre-back. With his contract expiring next year, now is the only time they’d be able to recuperate a fee.

Bailly, 29, has agreed personal terms with Besiktas ahead of a potential move, according to Fabrizio Romano. United are locked in negotiations with the Turkish side over his price tag, so fans can expect confirmation on his future in the coming days.
