Facundo Pellistri compared to former Manchester United forward after goal vs Athletic Club

Manchester United full-back Marc Jurado has compared Facundo Pellistri to Zlatan Ibrahimovic after the Manchester United winger scored a late equaliser in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

The Reds completed their pre-season schedule of 8 friendly matches ahead of the new season. Athletic Club’s Nico Williams opened the scoring in the first-half, but Pellistri ensured it wasn’t another defeat by scoring in stoppage time.

There are still doubts over whether Pellistri will remain at United for the 2023/24 campaign, but he has been one of the bright sparks throughout pre-season.

Meanwhile, fellow winger Amad Diallo was unfortunate to get injured early on in the pre-season. That injury is likely to rule him out of a loan move away from Old Trafford this summer.

The goal on Sunday was well taken. Pellistri connected with Harry Maguire’s knockdown header to turn the ball home.

Pellistri took to Instagram after the match, uploading a picture alongside the caption: “Feeling good. Great team spirit.”

Marc Jurado was quick with a positive comment about his team-mate, comparing him to former United forward and legend of the game, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Spaniard posted: “Zlatan,” referencing the quality of Pellistri’s finish.

This will raise questions over whether United should loan Pellistri out. Unless Erik ten Hag plans on giving him minutes throughout the season, it makes sense to let him develop elsewhere by getting first-team minutes rather than sitting on the bench.
