Aston Villa interested in Manchester United goalkeeper Matej Kovar

Matej Kovar faces an uncertain future at Manchester United.

The 23-year-old goalkeeper impressed on pre-season tour this year, although he was left out of the US tour squad after Andre Onana’s arrival.

Perhaps that was a sign of what is to come should he remain at Old Trafford, with United being linked to an array of back-up keepers.

After spending last season on loan with Sparta Prague, where he made 32 appearances, I don’t think it would do Kovar any good sticking around at United.

United need to make a decision on whether it’s a loan or a permanent move.

According to Czech publication Idnez, United want a fee of €7-10m if they are to sell Kovar this summer.

That fee has seemingly put off Sparta Prague due to being too expensive, but the report claims Villa are interested in a permanent deal.

Kovar could compete for a place in the Villa team with World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez, as well as Robin Olsen as back-up.

There are also rumours over a loan move to Championship side Hull City.

Whatever happens we need to think about Kovar’s development because he showed plenty of promise this summer.
