Early Manchester United team news ahead of Borussia Dortmund friendly

Manchester United take on Borussia Dortmund in our final game of the US tour.

The Reds have had a busy pre-season schedule this summer and it’s now coming to an end, with three games left before the competitive fixtures begin.

Undoubtedly, Erik ten Hag is determined to build on last season’s successes and compete for silverware once again.

Our upcoming opponents will be Borussia Dortmund, who could give a debut to former United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer following his switch from Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich.

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo misses the game – as well as the start of the new season – due to an ankle injury he sustained against Real Madrid on Wednesday night. The 18-year-old had to be withdrawn just 3 minutes into the game as he hobbled off the pitch.

Ivory Coast winger Amad Diallo remains a doubt following his withdrawal against Arsenal, although it was later revealed that injury is not as bad as initially feared.

Anthony Martial is touch-and-go which is no different to his usual state when ‘fit’.

Jonny Evans and Joe Hugill are still part of the squad, so there could be an opportunity for the young forward due to the lack of options Ten Hag has up top.

That said, Jadon Sancho could do with minutes ahead of the new season.

Borussia Dortmund duo Mateu Morey and Gio Reyna are both ruled out for the Black and Yellow and are likely to miss all of their pre-season matches.
