Manchester United wonderkid Kobbie Mainoo shares defiant message on Instagram after injury

Manchester United prospect Kobbie Mainoo has vowed to return from his injury setback a “stronger” person while thanking fans for their support.

The young midfielder has taken to Instagram after sustaining a foot injury which ended his cameo against Real Madrid in Houston prematurely.

Mainoo has been trusted with a chunk of minutes on pre-season tour and many are tipping him for a future role in the first-team under Erik ten Hag. It’s pretty clear that the Dutchman rates the United academy star.

However, Mainoo has posted on social media tonight with an update on the injury blow, sharing an Instagram photo of himself coming off against Madrid with a sense of disappointment displayed across his face.

The youngster added this caption to the photo: “I’ll be back stronger and in no time. Thanks for your messages of support.”

It’s a real shame that the midfielder wasn’t able to play out what was a competitive friendly against Madrid. He has held his own thus far on tour and that was a chance for him to gain a lot of experience whilst in the United States.

However, it’s encouraging to see Mainoo sharing an upbeat and defiant message amid that significant blow on tour.

Erik ten Hag should have an update for us before United take on Borussia Dortmund in their first game in the US this summer.
