‘Proud’ Robbie Savage reacts to son captaining Manchester United

Charlie Savage captained Manchester United for the second-half of their first pre-season friendly against Leeds.

Charlie’s father Robbie Savage immediately took to social media to praise the young midfielder.

The 20-year-old was given the armband after Raphael Varane’s substitution, and it will come to the youngster as a real milestone moment.

To make it even better, Savage led a youthful United side to a 2-0 win over Leeds.

Savage made headlines last season when his dad reacted to his first senior goal while on loan at Forest Green Rovers. It may have been his only goal, in 15 appearances in League One, but it was another proud moment nonetheless.

The academy graduate signed a long-term contract at United last year until at least 2025 with the option of a further year.
