Manchester United among four Premier League clubs in pursuit of £50m-rated midfielder

Manchester United are reportedly among four Premier League clubs interested in Southampton’s Romeo Lavia.

According to The Times, the Red Devils, Arsenal and Chelsea are all keen on acquiring the young midfielder, with Fabrizio Romano insisting that Liverpool are also in the race.

Whether or not United will table a bid remains to be seen, as the recently-relegated Saints have attached a £50 million price tag to Lavia this summer.

Meanwhile, United have just splashed £55m on England international Mason Mount, who has completed his medical at Carrington today, which will limit their budget moving forward this transfer window.

Ten Hag must bolster two key areas

Next on the list for Erik ten Hag is more likely to be a new striker and goalkeeper to bolster his squad, rather than another high-profile midfield signing.

It may be dependent on outgoings though; several Reds have been linked with moves away from Old Trafford over the coming weeks and if the board are able to carry out business efficiently, Ten Hag could be granted more funds to bolster his squad adequately and to his wishes.
