Fabrizio Romano says £60m forward would love to join Manchester United with club keen on deal

Fabrizio Romano has given an update on Manchester United’s links with Rasmus Hojlund.

Contrary to popular belief, the Red Devils have not yet submitted a bid for the forward. Reports suggested that United had submitted a £30 million offer but Romano has since confirmed that this isn’t the case.

Whether or not they will, though, remains to be seen. Atalanta will reportedly demand a fee of around €60-70m (£51-60m) to sanction the exit of the 20-year-old just one year on from his arrival.

The United board are seemingly strapped for cash this transfer window as everyone awaits a conclusion to the tedious takeover saga, and with Mason Mount edging closer to completing a £55m move from Chelsea, that may limit the striker budget considerably.

Hojlund wants United move

If United do meet his price tag, Hojlund will certainly push for the move himself – Romano added that the forward “would love” to join the club having held talks with Erik ten Hag.

Last season, the youngster scored nine goals in 32 Serie A appearances, though he did start the campaign by being used primarily as a substitute.

He received plaudits following his Denmark debut after netting a hat-trick during his nation’s Euro qualifying win over Finland.
