Manchester United have told Harry Kane to hand in a transfer request to force through a summer move to Old Trafford.

It has been widely reported for months that Erik ten Hag’s primary target this summer is Tottenham’s record goalscorer and captain Harry Kane.

But everyone knew Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would be difficult to negotiate, even though he risks losing Kane on a free transfer next year.

It appears United – who are in desperate need of an elite-level goalscorer – are making a last-ditch attempt to sign Kane.

According to The Sun, United’s recruitment team are ready to walk away from the transfer due to Levy reluctance to negotiate a fair deal for all parties.

However, United have reportedly told Kane to hand in a transfer request or a strongly worded statement to inform Spurs of his desire to move to the North West.

United are willing to pay £80m for Kane but Spurs want £100m.

Kane is said to be desperate to move to United but the Reds aren’t willing to let the transfer drag on all summer.

Hence why United are being linked with a number of alternative options like Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Another option is Nigeria international Victor Osimhen, but Napoli’s valuation is likely to be out of United’s price range, with the Glazer family reluctant to back Ten Hag until a takeover is complete.

Ten Hag needs to find a striker soon because he can’t rely on Anthony Martial next season, and the Frenchman is our only recognised centre forward as things stand.
