Christian Eriksen has hailed Manchester United target and international teammate Rasmus Hojlund, but he has not spoken to Erik ten Hag about the Atalanta striker.
The experienced midfielder is also aware of the difficulties a young player like Hojlund would face at a club as big as United.
However, it is believed United have already held talks with Hojlund about a summer switch as Ten Hag searches for a centre-forward alternative to Harry Kane.
The 20-year-old scored 16 goals last season and he’s currently on international duty with Eriksen. One would think the Danish midfielder will be telling his compatriot all of the positive stories from his first season at Old Trafford.
Eriksen was very complimentary of Hojlund when asked a transfer related question by a reporter, but he did not hint at whether the club will make a bid.
“I can see him [Hojlund] at Manchester United, but I haven’t recommended him to Erik ten Hag,” Eriksen told Ekstra Bladet.
“He is a fantastic guy and a good player and has really developed brilliantly at Atalanta. What the club ends up doing, I will not be able to answer.”
Eriksen went on to add United is a unique club but a mountain of pressure comes with that because expectations are so high. This is something Hojlund may experience in the near future.
“It’s a club where there’s a huge amount of attention because everyone has an attitude towards Manchester United,” he added. ”I had tried a lot when I came to the club. So I knew a little bit about what size the club was.
“For younger players who come to the club, it can be really difficult, because the club is the size it is now.”
United have yet to make an official offer for Hojlund. More updates when we hear anything.
