Roma offered Manchester United midfielder on loan

Donny van de Beek has been offered to AS Roma on a season-long loan.

Manchester United are trying to strengthen their midfield options ahead of next season after having a second bid rejected by Chelsea for Mason Mount.

Ideally, Erik ten Hag will get the chance to one more midfielder to the squad, once a deal for Mount is agreed.

A few of the current midfielders face uncertain futures as a result.

There has already been speculation over Fred leaving for Fulham and Gianluca Di Marzio now reports that United have offered Roma the chance to sign Van de Beek on loan.

While the Netherlands international is not a priority for Roma, it is believed that they will evaluate the option in the coming days.

It goes without saying that Van de Beek needs a new challenge because things have not worked out for him at Old Trafford.

In 60 appearances for United, Van de Beek has managed just two goals and two assists. He has failed to make an impact under several managers now, and it wouldn’t surprise us if Ten Hag moved him on this summer.

Van de Beek will probably return for pre-season training because it’s unlikely that anyone will risk buying him on a permanent deal.

That said, former United players have done well at Roma in recent years – such as Chris Smalling and Nemanja Matic.

The Serie A might suit Van de Beek.
