Manchester United consider player-plus-cash deal to hijack Declan Rice transfer

Manchester United could rival Arsenal’s move for Declan Rice by offering West Ham a player-plus-cash deal.

Arsenal’s latest bid of £90 million was immediately pushed back by West Ham on Tuesday, and The Telegraph claim Manchester United are considering whether to make a move.

The two players being suggested are Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay. Neither of these players are in the starting eleven, so they are probably up for sale as long as good offer comes in.

It is understood that West Ham have already shown interest in McTominay, while manager David Moyes is a big fan of Maguire.

The Hammers could look as McTominay as a replacement for Rice, and the cash involved in any deal will allow them to strengthen their squad in other departments.

Meanwhile, I think Maguire would be a perfect fit at a club like West Ham.

Jason Burt reports: “The expectation remains that Rice is still far more likely to join Arsenal, who are due to submit a third offer, and that he wants to make the move to them. But United would like to sign him if a deal can be constructed within their relatively limited transfer budget this summer.”

Arsenal are the only club to make an official offer for Rice this summer, although Man City are believed to be admirers too.

The England international appears ready to make the big step up in his career. Where next for Rice?
