Manchester United to play pre-season August friendly in Dublin vs Athletic Club

Manchester United will play a pre-season friendly against Athletic Club on August 6.

The Red Devils will take on the La Liga side at the Aviva Stadium following a hectic pre-season tour in July, as confirmed by The National News.

United embark on their trip across the United States after a clash with Leeds United in Oslo, Norway on July 12. Given the Whites’ recent relegation from the Premier League, it may be the last time the rivals meet for a while.

Erik ten Hag’s men will then take on Lyon in Edinburgh, before facing Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund across the states, ending their American tour on July 31.

Their visit to Ireland comes midway through the transfer window, so the Reds may be bolstered by several news faces as they continue their preparations for the 2023/2024 campaign.

United boast a huge Irish following, so the 51,000-capacity stadium will likely be filled with supporters that have been granted the chance to watch the team in their home country.
