Arsenal close in on £100m deal for Manchester United-linked Declan Rice

Arsenal have ramped up their pursuit of West Ham United’s Declan Rice and could lodge a big-money bid imminently.

According to The Guardian, the Gunners are finalising a proposal worth £100 million to prise the 24-year-old from the Irons’ grasp.

Despite the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich all showing active interest in Rice, Arsenal are set to be the only team submitting a formal offer and could quickly win the race for the midfielder.

The report adds that personal terms will not be an issue in the negotiations that could see Rice make a switch to the Emirates, breaking their £72 million transfer record in the process.

There is confidence from the Gunners’ side that a deal will be finalised.

Rice set to bid Irons farewell

Last week, Rice played his last game for the Hammers in true fairytale fashion; he captained his club to European glory as they defeated Fiorentina 1-0 to lift the Europa Conference League trophy.

The England star joined the club in 2014 and graduated from the academy just three years later. He has since made over 200 appearances and etched his name into West Ham’s history, so it’ll tug at supporters’ heartstrings to see him line up in another team’s colours next season.

  1. He’s rubbish. Overpriced and overrated. Can anyone tell me how he is better than MacAlistair? Also, is he only in the England side as a DLC because he has no real competition for that England position, so he is the only option, unless someone can name another English Defensive Midfielder that’s worth mentioning? Nowhere near the class of Viera or Petit, more like the workhorse Ray Parlour. You all think Arsenal is going to pay £100 million for Mr Ordinary, your having a laugh! Ha Ha Ha
