Sheikh Jassim reconsiders Friday deadline for Manchester United offer

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani’s final bid for Manchester United will remain live even if the Glazers fail to respond by Friday. The Qatari banker has reconsidered his stance on today’s deadline.

On Wednesday it was understood that Sheikh Jassim wanted a response to his final offer to buy Manchester United or he’d walk away, but The Guardian now claim this will not be the case.

The whole saga has become a circus with Sheikh Jassim reportedly frustrated with how Raine Group and the Glazer family are conducting the sale process.

There is a real possibility regarding Sheikh Jassim losing out to Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the only other publicly declared bidder, who has made an offer to seize control of the club.

Ratcliffe is aiming to acquire about 51% of United, which may leave the Glazer family with a minority share. It is understood that Ratcliffe’s company INEOS does not believe a deal is imminent.

While Sheikh Jassim has improved his offer on more than one occasion, it is still short of the Glazer’s asking price, but impatience will grow if this drags on further into the summer.
