Mohamed Salah was clearly watching Manchester United’s penultimate Premier League match against Chelsea last night.

The Red Devils saw out a 4-1 win at Old Trafford that secured their Champions League qualification, as well as moved them to third place.

The result now means that top four is unachievable for Liverpool in their final game and they, along with Brighton and Hove Albion, will be playing Europa League next season.

Post-match, Bruno Fernandes admitted that the knew the United fans would be delighted with Liverpool’s exclusion from Europe’s elite competition after his spot-kick all but cemented the three points against Frank Lampard’s side.

Salah then took to Twitter following the full-time whistle in M16 to voice his upset and apologise to supporters for the Merseyside club’s poor campaign, writing: “I’m totally devastated. There’s absolutely no excuse for this. We had everything we needed to make it to next year’s Champions League and we failed.”

Next up for the Reds

United’s final match of the 2022/2023 league season is against Fulham on Sunday and the FA Cup final against Manchester City is next Saturday, June 3 at Wembley Stadium.
