Manchester United join Brighton in race for Sassuolo midfielder

Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Italian international midfielder Davide Frattesi.

The 23-year-old is a key first-team player for Sassuolo, which has led to speculation about him being a target for Manchester United.

Frattesi, who plays as a central midfielder, could prove to be a quality acquisition for the Reds. Erik ten Hag improved the team’s midfield last summer with additions such as Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.

However, there’s a common feeling being briefed that Ten Hag wants to add more quality to that department this summer.

The Sassuolo star has seven goals in Serie A this season, which had led to speculation about him moving to Old Trafford.

A report from Football Insider claims that United and Brighton are keen on signing the Italy international.

With the Seagulls expected to lose Alexis Mac Allister in the summer, it comes as no surprise that they would identify a highly-rated box-to-box midfielder to potentially replace the Argentine.

That only means United will have competition for Frattesi, but the fact we are set to qualify for the Champions League should be enough to persuade the player to join us instead. Not to mention the size of our football club compared to Brighton.
